When it comes to performance engine applications, there are no shortage of accessories that claim to improve horsepower. Very few parts are able to accomplish improved horsepower for an affordable price. Thankfully, a modern day super chilling kit is available that offers proven performance gains. This product is the CryO2 system.
A CryO2 system is simply a automotive part which can cool the air, fuel and turbo intercooler. Using liquid carbon dioxide, which is chilled to 80 degrees below zero, noticeable performance improvements are possible.
The primary use for a CryO2 system is to minimize the intake manifold air temperature. Tests have indicated that a cryogenic system will reduce the air temperature in the intake by approximately 30 degrees. This cooler and denser air will burn more easily and can produce improved performance and horsepower.
Limiting the temperature of the fuel entering the engine is also an added application which the CryO2 system offers. Just as lowering the air temperature going into the intake manifold will improve performance, chilling the fuel entering the engine will also increase horsepower.
A cryogenic kit not only offers bolt on horsepower, but also is able to be expanded for different automotive applications. Purge kits are the newest craze for automotive enthusiasts that drive their vehicles to auto shows. A short discharge of CO2 will always turn heads and can leave a lasting impression for spectators. The discharges could be controlled with an adjustable timing mechanism so that the car owner does not have to be near the car when discharges occur.
Automotive enthusiasts that are operating a CryO2 system at the race track will normally get around three 1/4 passes out of a single 10LB bottle. Other CryO2 add-ons can increase the CO2 use and limit the amount of passes on one bottle. With a spare tank, there is plenty of CO2 handy for a weekend at the raceway.
The applications of CO2 for performance vehicle applications are virtually unlimited. Even cars operating with NOS can harness the bolt on performance that a cryogenic system can offer. And with a CryO2 system being so inexpensive, this is a good performance upgrade that could help most any race vehicle.
